Should You Care?

Have you ever met someone who said that it is a waste of time and that they do not care about elections, politics, or our nation's policies? Well, I have. And it got me thinking, should I care? Should we care about who runs America?

Short answer, YES. Now for the long answer. These people have said that it is unimportant to be involved in the voting process, and the decision making of our nation. I would like to challenge that with this blog. First of all, let's remember that God is 100% in control of what goes on in the leadership of America. "Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God" (Romans 13:1). But the great thing about The United States of America is that this nation is not run by one individual, or a counsel of generals that dictate to us what is and what is not law. We can have an active part in the selection process of our nation's leaders. And though the founding of America may be controversial to some Christians, no one can dispute that it was founded on principles and values of the Bible.

Our nation has strayed. Our leaders have strayed. And sadly, many voters have strayed. Many people do not understand who they support and what that might entail. There are candidates in the presidential election coming up (2012) that stand for, frankly, unconstitutional things. These candidates coat their political views with rubbish so to earn voters' support. Anything I may say about a particular candidate will be factual, not my opinion. I am not going to try to pretend I know everything; I am no expert by any means. But I think I'll be able to shed some light on some things for my own benefit and hopefully for others. I think it's time for Christians to turn on the light and work to bring America back to the values of the Bible.
